Privacy policy

Effective 26 October 2026 · Applies to the Dishista app for iOS and Android and to dishista.com

The short version

  • You don't need an account, and we don't ask who you are.
  • Everything you add — your profile, favourites, cooked dishes and meal plans — is stored only on your device.
  • We don't run servers that receive your data, and we don't use analytics, advertising or tracking.
  • We never sell or share your personal data, because we never receive it.

1. Who we are

Dishista is a recipe and meal-planning app. The data controller for the purposes of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is Lukáš Klabal, IČO 87959127, Czech Republic. You can reach us any time at dishistaapp@gmail.com.

2. Information stored on your device

To make the app personal, Dishista saves the following information in the app's private storage on your phone or tablet:

This information never leaves your device through Dishista. We cannot see it, and it is not backed up by us. It may be included in your device's own backups (for example iCloud or Google backup) according to your device settings.

3. Permissions

Dishista only asks for access to your photo library or camera if you choose to set a profile photo. The chosen picture is resized and saved on your device; it is not uploaded anywhere. You can change or remove these permissions at any time in your device settings.

4. What we don't do

5. Third parties

App stores

When you download Dishista, Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) process information about your purchase and download under their own privacy policies. We may receive aggregated, anonymous statistics from them (such as the number of downloads), which do not identify you.

Recipe photos are bundled in the app. If you tap a photo credit, the original image page on Wikimedia Commons opens in your browser, and Wikimedia's privacy policy applies to that visit.

Sharing

If you share a recipe, Dishista hands the text to your device's share menu. What happens next depends on the app you choose to share with.

6. This website

dishista.com does not use cookies, analytics or tracking. It is hosted on GitHub Pages, which may keep standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) to keep the site secure and running. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, so Google may receive your IP address when you visit. Your language choice is remembered only in your own browser.

7. Children

Dishista is a general-audience cooking app and is not directed at children under 13. Because we don't collect personal data, we don't knowingly collect any data from children.

8. Your choices and rights

Because your data stays on your device, you are always in control:

Under the GDPR you also have the right to access, correct, delete and port your personal data, to object to processing and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In the Czech Republic this is the Office for Personal Data Protection (uoou.gov.cz). If you write to us, we use your email only to reply and delete the conversation when it's no longer needed.

9. Health information

The meal-plan guide may ask about goals such as weight loss or a calorie target. These answers are used only on your device to build your plan and are never sent to us. Meal plans are general inspiration and not medical or nutritional advice — if you have a health condition, are pregnant or follow a special diet, please talk to a doctor or registered dietitian.

10. Changes to this policy

We plan to add optional features in the future, such as an account to sync your recipes between devices. Before any feature sends data off your device, we will update this policy and tell you in the app — and the feature will be optional. The date at the top shows when this policy last changed.
